Francois thanks for the idea. I downloaded the free version which plays my master just fine, but to check the CC I have to upgrade which is not worth it. It seems to only be a viewer.

So I will have to call a company in the USA to help me.

Thanks for the knowledge. I am now leaning toward paying to have the file made. Are their any companies you recommend?

    Noah, yes using that workflow.

Andreas, your comments match my experience that Compressor won’t embed the captions. It seems to only let me view the sidecar file. However, I find that odd because the 3PlayMedia workflow AND the Apple help files make it sound like it will work. In fact I see multiple websites showing compressor as being a good option (another example).

I have Telestream Episode. Have you had luck embedding closed caption with that?

  • Chris Faber thank you for helping me solve this problem. Your process of elimination was a great way to solve it (and faster than I expected). You saved me a ton of time.

Thank you Robin. I will give the compound idea a more serious look.

Mark, I find your guys stuff helpful so I will have to check out this training.

Robin, I have been copying my settings from one photo to another but yes I should try saving a preset.

Ultimately I would love to have the camera sound AND the transition flash also be apart of the overall look. Just drop a photo on the drop zone and have one slider to adjust the overall speed then have rotation and scale direction selectors to adjust the overall look. Then I would stack multiple generators to get the photos stacking at the right time for the vo.

Does this sound like a complex template to build? Is this something I can learn in a day or should I be looking for an expert to build it for me?

January 22, 2016 at 5:32 pm in reply to: FxFactory v5.0.8 just broke FCPX

I am back up and running after rolling back to 5.0.7. Then I got this response from FX Factory.

    Hi Chad,

Sorry for the trouble. We have fixed the bug, please re-install FxFactory from here:
    https://fxfactory.com/download/

Let me know if I can be of further assistance, if indeed this was helpful, or if this raises any other questions.

    Regards,

I think I will wait a day or two before upgrading again… just in case. 🙂

We are cutting a number of new videos out of these interviews. I have no desire to work in 7. 🙂

May 26, 2015 at 3:36 pm in reply to: Black between videos?

The company building the BluRay is using Sony’s software. It seemed that no matter what we tried, the menus would not hold the last frame until the new menu started (like DVDs) but would cut to black while loading. So we add a black to the beginning of each video and page turned out of it.

BUT in the end, their master failed during the glass master phase due to too many menu buttons/scripts (216+) so we ended up re-editing all our videos into one video with chapter markers and long freeze frames between page turns. This way our popup menu only had three buttons on it (back, forward, menu) which would jump to the next/previous chapter button with no black.

At the moment, we are waiting for the glass master report. Crossing our fingers.
