I have used and owned the Sony emc 55, so then I saw it was $350 and then I came across the Sony ECM-44B. It is only $220 at B and H, plus it has a 5 star rating from 11 reviews. I hope that helps!

Thank you Michael for your post. I want to hear what people’s experiences have been with both versions. I am glad that you provided that link, because I didn’t see it on there website, thank you.

What do you have? Are those third party apps worth the extra $60? What are those third party apps?
I also read that Pro offers these things versus the Regular Version:
• Blue Ray component – enables burning BR-disks on an ext. Blue-Ray burner
(and even small eg 20min BR-material on standard DVDs (only play back on BR-player))
• Sound Soap (very good program to save bad audio – in a small way)
• FotoMagico – If You want HD SlideShowsI have also read some of the info that Roxio has put up, but I want to hear what people’s experiences have been with both versions.
Thank you,

David,
Thank you for answering my questions. Yeah, I am a rookie on this forum, first day on it. That is good to know thou. What is Mac Extended? I am trying to keep this simple, but If I get the 4 TB Caldigit VR and it is made up of 2 2TB Hard Drives, I get the inexpensive 500gb or 1 TB SATA Drives. Assuming the 2 2 TB VR Hard Drives would be full, Would it work this way that I could use 4 500gb hard drives for each 2 TB Drive or 2 1 TB hard drive for each 2 TB Drive? Please Let me know, if that question sounded complicated or not.
Thank you,

I am using a 17″ MacBook Pro Laptop and I am looking at 4TB Caldigit VR and would be using Carbon Copy Cloner. I would like to set up the Caldigit VR as a Raid 0 and then have all the files backed up on another hard drive. If I don’t have to, I don’t want to use Raid 1. Any Suggestions on how to back up the VR with the MacBook Pro using Raid 0? Any suggestions which back up drive to get? Any Suggestions on how to set up this Raid System?
Thank you,
