You’d have more control if you could duplicate the layer where you want to add glow (it should be masked – so that may be a problem). Add the glow effect and set the layer itself to add, black won’t go through.

On your case, the threshold value should tell the effect which brightness value to glow, increasing it may solve the dark halos.

Right click your layer, go to time -> enable time-remapping. Then you may drag the start/end points of the clip.

  • If you have a Stroke effect applied they are no longer illustrator/vector layers, there is a Stroke being rendered on top of them, thus the loss in quality.

Edit: if you’re using the stroke to reveal the lines, simply split the layers after they are revealed and remove the effect. (I’d never start with that approach but it may solve your problem as it is now)

  • What do you mean with “introduce camera effect” ? Do you mean going to “Layer -> New -> Camera” ?

Also what version of AE are you using? Have you checked if you’re not using the now obsolete raytrace engine of AE cs6?

If you’d like to have them show with some overlapping, I’d add a noise to a solid, apply the mosaic effect with the same number of rows and colums and animate the noise’s brightness.

If you need it to be random but sequential than I can’t think of anything but to do by hand.

Are you sure you have nothing hidden in c4d?

Well you can’t have a true white background, Otherwise you wont see the water highlights and the whole effect won’t work.

Its all a matter of concept. In order to see the water better you need to have a greyish BG. I’m not sure how that tutorial ends up against a grey BG but I think you should be able to composite it over either by applying blend modes or adjusting curves.

Can you post a SS? Its hard to judge how far off it looks…

  • You should search for “reducing GI flickering”. Also you should probably change the primary mode off the IR (legacy).

But basicaly you need to have more or better sampling in your GI calculations.

  • Check this VCP tutorial, see if it helps: https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/speed_particles/

September 11, 2015 at 6:06 pm in reply to: Radius on CC Sphere issues

well, I did a simple test here and at least for y dimensions the radius convertion to Y position value is a flat one. If you add cc sphere with the default radius of 200, and add any null with -200 at Y. it will stay right above your “world”. the same goes for any other value I tried in the radius.

Are you sure there is nothing else in the rest of your math thats slightly changing things? maybe your camera ain’t with the default 35mm preset? changing camera settings would move your 3d’s around and would have no effect at your cc sphere.
