Illustrator Layers losing Substance/Quality When Camera Zoomed In
Here’s what it looks like before I zoom

9350_screenshot20151016at6.04.05pm.png.zipAs you can see, the middle hollows out, the lines get thinner and the corners disappear. The lines have a Stroke effect applied to them that animates, I had them pre-comped before but I took them all out in case that was messing with them. Each line animates so there’s a layer for each one. There’s a mask applied so that it’s perfectly mirrored. I tried the mirror effect on the layers but when i zoom in the camera, the mirror effect would move with the camera so I was screwed there.
The more I zoom in the worse it gets and I’m trying to use a camera to get a close up shot. Scaling the lines does the same thing.

If you have a Stroke effect applied they are no longer illustrator/vector layers, there is a Stroke being rendered on top of them, thus the loss in quality.
Edit: if you’re using the stroke to reveal the lines, simply split the layers after they are revealed and remove the effect. (I’d never start with that approach but it may solve your problem as it is now)

Yes, I’m using the Stroke to reveal the lines all at once and I wanted to use the camera to basically cut to a couple different snapshots of the lines being drawn on up really close, then cut to a zoom out to reveal the whole picture. Any idea to remedy the situation maybe back in illustrator?

You could use a shape layer and its stroke to reveal things instead of a stroke effect.

Thanks, I think that’s what I may have to do regrettably. When I tried to convert the illustrator lines to shape layers it just turns it into a big gray shape. Probably something I need to fix in illustrator but the files were just given to me.
