Though I see your need for it on that case, fill with pattern is nothing more than precomposing and adding a layer on top. No reason to be a menu command just for it.

BUT you can duplicate your text inside to another group. Then have this second one animate the same way but displace the keyframe in time. And use the animation engine (with random). From group 1 to group 2.

February 10, 2016 at 1:15 pm in reply to: How would I get these composition settings? On a second thought maybe you can’t crop in adobe media encoder (I just looked for the option and coundn’t find). So I guess you’ll need to crop the heigh in AE to get that aspect ratio.
But I still stand with what I said about not changing width.

You probably need to crop down your height. And I’m almost sure you don’t need to do anything but find the right preset while exporting and let the encoder do the croping for you.
1920×818 makes far more sense than increasing width.

have you tried to choke the layer by some fractions of a pixel? (simple choker effect for ex.)

I’m not going into why would you try something like that in AE in the first place. But still there are severall possible solutions and each will depend on how you want it to look. Noone is ideal though.
Are the sofa parts solids or shape layers? Do you need the pattern to match in each/some connections?
for solids I would replace them with 36 another compositions so I could align things with more control.
for shapes I would duplicate the texture 36 times and link each to a shape. Then set the shapes as mattes for the textures.
Ideally, in AE, I would make a large composition with the pattern repeatted and “bend” masked parts of it to that sofa shape. So the pattern would be better matched as if it had and uv map.

Sorry. Let me make it clear. Select and hold one handle then HOLD the Alt key to switch between states.

It should break in order to keep the most fluent transition for the curves. You can select one handle and hit alt(after selecting it) to match tangent angles/distance when its in the crisp curve state and vice versa.

From the image it seems like you have low triangle count in the distortion mesh.

January 29, 2016 at 12:07 pm in reply to: AE & C4D – There’s a floor in AE but not in C4D.I’m seeing the viewport in c4d. Could you do a render? or at least twirl down the “tardis not real” null to show whats inside?
