I have used and owned both and can’t understand your frustration 🙂
Why do people so often keep dwelling on the problem rather then on the solution?
I stopped long ago to say ‘why can’t they fix this’ because its a complete waist of time!
Just find a solution or workaround and feel happy if a software update addresses the issue in the future (and if not so be it).
And if one gets stuck and can’t figure it out, ask on forums like this, in a neutral manner because otherwise you keep waisting YOUR time again as the only response you get is a religous discussion about preferences.
Your question should have only required 3-4 posts the most…
But then again the whole thread is funny, so thanks for that.my two cents

I don’t know.
have you tried posting on the digtal filmtools forum on their website?
sorry that I can’t be of any more help.

can it be that you have an earlier version and still have the old serial number in one of the fcp plugin folders?
don’t have the edit machine running but it is either in the libray/application support/fcp plugin folder or in the fcp preferences in your home/library/preferences/fcp preferences/plugins folder.
delete (or move to trash but don’t delete to be able to reverse the action) the old 55mm serial number and try again.
not sure if it works as i haven’t updated yet, but worth a try.

you can also use the ‘export>batch list’ function right in FCP
create a new bin
subclip the clips you want from your seq into this new bin
set the coloumns to: start/end/duration
sort by start time
make the tab of this new bin active
export>batch list
this will export a text file with the name and start/end/duration for your clipsif you want to do timecode calculations in excel try this free add in:
https://www.belle-nuit.com/timecode/index.html (haven’t checked for a while so hope it’s still active)for extraction of clip information via XML have a look at:
https://www.spherico.de/filmtools/
bit cumbersome and limited posibilities but it might do what you want!?Cofe

or
snapping on (n)
hold the option key and then drag the clip you want to move. You’ll see the cursor changes and when you snap to the new position it insert edit to the new position and removes it from the original position.
When you do this with 2 or more continous clips it creates a gab at the orignal psition (don’t know why??) which you then quickly close by control clicking on the gab and choose ‘close gab’ -
55mm plug ins from Digitalfilmtools.com
cost you a few bugs but worth every penny!

check out Conduit from DVgarage.
its a node compositor for Motion but it actually now shows up in FCP as well because its a FXplugin.
I only have a demo version and didn’t try it yet, but I think it’s worth a look.
FXplug support is a very big thing for FCP!

just load your web preset , go to the frame size panel in the inspector and choose -constrain to 16-9- in the bottom pop up. you’ll see that it will change the pixel numbers in the height field to a lower number making your quicktime the right aspect ratio. if you want to you can save this setting for future use.

August 8, 2006 at 5:37 am in reply to: Color Corrector & Color Corrector 3-Way don’t support Lossless + Alpha clipsYour not crazy! I’ve had it too.
Why? I don’t know.
Now I do my CC work using CF2 from Synth App. But it is expensive so maybe overkill if you only want to legalize.
Have you tried just the Broadcast safe filter? If you do not need to change the look but only get the graphics to specs that’s the best way to do. But I haven’t tried it…
Hope it works though

A VERY GOOD IDEA IS TO MAKE A COPY OF YOUR SEQ FIRST SO IF IT DOESN’T WORK YOU DO NOT LOOSE ANYTHING. Once all is ok you can either delete or keep the original seq.
change your seq to anamorphic (command-0 and then tick the 16-9 box in the seq setting)
select all video clips in the timeline and select ‘remove attributes’ (don’t have fcp open but I think its under the seq menu) and only select ‘distort’ from the options.
this will remove all the letterboxing for all clips. you have to re-render naything that is not realtime though.
