  • Compressor – 16 x 9 setting?

Posted by Tad Newberry on August 29, 2006 at 4:45 am

i’m doing an HDV project in FCP and haven’t found a Compressor setting that will give me a small file in the 16×9 aspect ratio to send clients for rough approvals. i’ve been using the Web Download settings which give me good-looking 4×3’s, but it would be nice to send them some proper aspect stuff. thanks if any of you have ideas…

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

Manually change the Aspect Ratio. Get the preset you want then adjust it. Any variant of 16:9…640×360 is an example of what I use…or 320×180.

just load your web preset , go to the frame size panel in the inspector and choose -constrain to 16-9- in the bottom pop up. you’ll see that it will change the pixel numbers in the height field to a lower number making your quicktime the right aspect ratio. if you want to you can save this setting for future use.
