July 12, 2012 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Boris Red5 on Vegas 11 – Delaying effect after renderingHi Peter,
I made the test into Vegas.
Boris Red5 is able to handle different project settings.
There are a couple of important details to be observed:
1) The Boris fps “project settings” should be the same of the footage in which is being applied, even that the general Vegas project setting is different. I mean, footage = 60p, Boris = 60p, Vegas project = 30p. It seems Boris will follow the Vegas project setting (30p), so it will be necessary to change fps manually in Boris “project settings” (60p) to match the footage fps.
2) The Vegas project need to have same fps than the chosen render output fps. I mean, my former error (last email in this thread) was that I was setting the different fps just in the render settings, not in the project settings.
After I have followed what I mention in (1) and (2), I am obtaining a seamless integration between Vegas and Boris, even using different fps.

July 12, 2012 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Boris Red5 on Vegas 11 – Delaying effect after renderingHi Peter,
Thanks for answering.
Actually, Boris is recognizing in the “project settings” the 59.940 fps from the footage.
My issue is that I am rendering the project using 29.970 fps, and then the delay is appearing in the rendered file.
I changed the Boris settings to 29.970 (on the original footage of 59.940) and then I rendered the project using this same 29.970 fps. The delay still appearing.
The only way Boris worked great was rendering with same fps of the footage (59.940). But sometimes there are projects in which footage with different fps is used. In this way, I would not know how to develop a project using Boris…
In “theory”, would be possible to apply Boris on a footage of 59.940fps and render the project using different fps?

Thanks for the answers.
Now I am more confident about handling both 64 and 32 bit versions.
Related to that, a couple of issues have appeared. I would appreciate further help:a) Since 32 bit version seems to be more stable than 64 bit (at least to me), I am thinking on using that instead 64 bit. After I have finished the project in 32 bit version, I would render the project in 64 bit version. Does it make sense? Or to create and render all project in 32 bit version would be better? Actually, I don’t know exactly what are the advantages of the 64 bit version, but I have the impression that just the rendering would be better in 64 bit version. (I use a notebook Dell Vostro, 6GB, 1GBVideo, Intel i5 2.4GZ).
b)Considering the overall crashes of Vegas 11, would Vegas 10 be stable? I am thinking in the possibility of using Vegas 10 instead 11. Does it make sense?

July 6, 2012 at 1:31 pm in reply to: Plugin to Vegas that provides any capabilities to search text or voice?Hi,
My issue is with ways to search media and events. So the “timeline tools” provides in the “track event info” tab ways to (a) search media by name; (b) filters to events locked, with plugins and so on; (c) tag editor to attach information direct into event and related search tool (it is necessary mark in tab “track tools/time line tools options” the box “show event media tag” to make a tag column available at “track event info”).
I couldn’t find this features in other Vegas plugins, mainly about (c).

Anyway, I am trying to handle Vegas in-built tools as well.
About markers, considering I have 100 markers along the project, since the “auto-ripple” is on, it seems the marker will be attached to the all project events always (even when single or just few events are moved), isn’t it? In this way, the behavior of the marker would be quite similar of tagging the media…

July 5, 2012 at 12:09 pm in reply to: Plugin to Vegas that provides any capabilities to search text or voice?Hi Steve,
Recently I obtained information about the “Timeline Tools Vegas Pro Extension” (https://www.nfatoys.com/moasoftwarellc). After few tests, it has provided a way to search my tracks. Besides other handy features, there is a tag editor which provides a way to attach tags to each piece of event in timeline (different from the “media manager” tags). And this tool is for free as well.
Best,

June 29, 2012 at 3:53 pm in reply to: Could Boris Red5 replace some After Effects features? Thanks again Peter.
In fact, RED is running a little faster as standalone.
About this two ways of run RED (Vegas plugin and standalone), could you give a general idea about how I should deal with both?
I mean, if I create a project in standalone, will be possible inside Sony Vegas load this project? For instance, I will try to create infographs and animation similar that I had posted before (that link to youtube). In this way, could I create the animation in standalone and then load into Vegas?
All the best,

June 29, 2012 at 2:50 pm in reply to: Could Boris Red5 replace some After Effects features?Hi Peter,
Thanks for the confidence you gave me about Red5. I am going deep on it now.
Considering the tutorials and webinars you mentioned, could you just clarify me about:
a) Not always RED5 is attached to Vegas. For instance, there are sources about:
Create Subtitles with Media 100 and RED
Using RED as a Transition in Final Cut Pro
Even I use Vegas, would these sources attached to others NLEs be useful as well?b) Some webnars are related to Boris Continuum. It seems RED has much (or all?) features of Continuum, am I right?
c) Actually this is a issue related with my current trials with RED. I am observing a little delay when using simple commands/resources from RED, changing tabs etc. I mean, I click and just few moments after that RED gives me “answer”. Is it the common behavior of RED? I am using it in a DELL VOSTRO notebook, intel core i5 2.4Ghz, 6GB RAM, 1GB videocard (AMD Radeon HD 6630M).
All the best,
Carlos
