July 11, 2020 at 11:08 am in reply to: Why BCC 10 control points are simpler in Vegas Pro and more elaborated in Avid Media Composer?Updating the thread, since I just received a reply from Boris through email with clarifications (case number 00167448):
“I looked into the situation and discovered that, unfortunately, this is still a shortcoming within the Vegas host, even the latest version. This is actually not a shortcoming of OFX itself, as similar things are functional in Resolve and Nuke (the first of these being a free OFX host). Vegas can draw the simple point picker cross-hairs themselves, but it’s unable to draw a visual control interface (let alone make it functional in these ways).
Thank you, and sorry.”Jon

July 7, 2020 at 3:25 pm in reply to: Why BCC 10 control points are simpler in Vegas Pro and more elaborated in Avid Media Composer? At Boris,
This thread is 4 years old and up to now there were no improvements in the stated direction:
“This was actually due to a limitation in the OFX architecture’s operational capacity, but this has opened up recently. Since this possibility has opened up now, we are in the process of introducing these on-screen controls for the OFX-based plugs.”Recently, a thread in Vegas forum has stated that “Vegas Pro should upgrade its old outdated OFX system”:
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-should-upgrade-its-old-outdated-ofx-system–122141/#ca760625=> Haven’t the BCC improvements happened because “Vegas Pro should upgrade its old outdated OFX system” first, or is it indeed an issue from the BCC development side?
Your reply is much appreciated to make clear to Vegas users why BCC OFX works much better with other NLE’s than Vegas.
Thanks,

Hi. I just added a suggestion to address this issue in MAGIX Vegas PRO forum.
“Speed up/down timeline playback rate preserving pitch”:

October 28, 2016 at 11:37 pm in reply to: How to Split and Delete (one-step operation)? Thanks all for the tips. That is what I was looking for!
In the Brazilian keyboard the shortcuts are in same place, but they have different printing on the keys, as showed here: https://i.imgur.com/k2lu5pA.png

August 7, 2016 at 12:03 am in reply to: Emulating the zoom system of Camtasia Editor in VEGAS – a script that copy the last keyframe and add a new one (1 second later)Take a look in Vegasaur’s “Pan/Crop Assistant”: https://vegasaur.com/pan-crop-assistant
It sounds the tools Pan & Zoom, Keyframes and Custom Effects could emulate Camtasia zoom system, also providing additional functionality for screencast editing in Vegas.
Let us know if it works for you. -
“Basic Colors Swatch” with “Add to Custom Color”
When choosing colors, it would be handy to have a “Basic Colors Swatch” with “Add to Custom Color” option, complementary to Vegas current color selector. It is illustrated here: https://i.imgur.com/BkGCnvV.png

Improve OFX architecture’s operational capacity, allowing better FX on-screen controls (similar to Avid Media Composer)
The following snapshots show Vegas control points for a BCC FX, which are simpler crosses, almost invisible. In Avid, the crosses are clearer, with visible colors (green, pink). Also in Avid, for some BCC effects, there are circles (green, blue, red) providing the main controls on preview screen, in order you can just drag and drop the handlers for adjusts. These circles aren’t seen in Vegas.

The answer: “This was actually due to a limitation in the OFX architecture’s operational capacity, but this has opened up recently. Since this possibility has opened up now, we are in the process of introducing these on-screen controls for the OFX-based plugs”. Jon
I’m not sure, but it sounds that some improvement from Vegas side would be necessary in order it can provide better FX on-screen controls.

August 5, 2016 at 8:36 pm in reply to: Possible to move several keyframes at once to another position?[László Kovács] “Find the last/first keyframe, and shift-clikc it. This selects all keyframes inbetween as well.”
Thanks László.
This method worked 100%, making accurate any keyframe selection. -

August 5, 2016 at 6:57 pm in reply to: Why BCC 10 control points are simpler in Vegas Pro and more elaborated in Avid Media Composer? Thanks for the info Jon. What a great news!
Is the on-screen controls for the OFX-based plugins a development that depends just from Boris side, or should Vegas also improve its OFX architecture? I mean, if Boris implement the on-screen controls, will them work even in current/past versions of Vegas (e.g. Vegas 11, 12, 13)?
