  • Hi Grazie,
    Thanks for further feedback.
Even I change the keyframes order to fit “first KF is right up against the far left Bar”, in my case it seems Vegas does select properly just when selection is from left to right.
I did another screen-recording, showing (and commenting) the right/left keyframe selection issue with more details: https://goo.gl/ZZoEId

  • After further testing, I realized that if the selection is made from the left to the right, the keyframes are included properly.
If the selection is made from right to the left, the issues I reported do happen.
    Thanks for help!

  • Hi Grazie.
Many thanks for such a comprehensive answer!
I could test all your tips and learned a lot.
I just felt Vegas a bit unresponsive when “Drag across to select. Once lit, Drag to new position”. I recorded another screen showing my trial (https://goo.gl/WYKMed). I could select the two first set of frames properly. However, when trying to broaden the selection to include more frames, the selection was cumbersome, imprecise. Even when I achieved it after many trials, the selection was made in a place of the timeline away from the keyframe itself.
Am I still doing something wrong?

    Improve Vegas “Media Manager”

Since 2011 it isn’t updated. It is a handy to, but underdeveloped. Here there is an extensive discussion on possibilities to “Media Manager”:

Faster search for Video FX, Transitions and Media Generators

In each Vegas session the first search for Video FX, Transitions and Media Generators takes forever. You type in the search box and can go to grab a coffee before your search is listed! This slow search could happen once, considering some elements are external plugins, etc. After that, Vegas should create a kind of cache, avoiding delays when searching first time in each session.

Make “View>Edit Details” available in Vegas Movie Studio too.

Favorite folder for Video FX, Transitions, Media Generators

There is no favorite folder that would make the life easier for handle the hundreds of Vegas effects, etc.

Currently I use an workaround creating a folder in the plug-in chooser window, but that window isn’t friendly as the main/searchable window for Video FX, Transitions, Media Generators. Another shortcoming for this workaround is that you can’t see the preview thumbnails.

Looking forward to seeing new Vegas, and maybe this improvement!

    Hi Steve,
    Indeed the plugins are marvelous!
But in this case Vegas doesn’t allow Auto Ripple to work inside scripts and extensions, Vegas is limiting the plugins functionality .
The forthcoming Vegas release sounds will address many users needs neglected by Sony. Better yet if plugin/extension functionality be improved as well. This way we could expect a better Vegas soon, and improved plugins from third-parties as well.
    Best,

Make Auto Ripple available inside scripts and extensions

It follows a video-recording showing when a scrip (through Vegasaur) is used to change event duration/length, the markers around don’t move: https://goo.gl/KgEv7i

It seems this behavior is a Vegas known issue, that doesn’t allow Auto Ripple to work inside scripts and extensions. So the scripts could provide further functionality for users if they could rely on Auto Ripple to adjust events.

    Thanks,

Indeed John. I was affirming same as you that “Vegas already does this”, but only when the clip property “playback rate” is changed.

I’m trying to explain that Vegas is already able to handle pitch, but just in this situation. So, Vegas could also provide smoother pitch when just the playback rate/speed is changed (clip property isn’t change). I mean, the speed change is just in the control in bottom-left tool, just below the tracks (snapshot: https://i.imgur.com/ToeHLzc.png).

Following the threads discussions I mentioned about, everyone have faced same problem with “pitch distortion” when the playback rate/speed is changed. In Adobe Premiere, by pressing L to speed up the playback, the pitch is much smoother than Vegas. If you press L in Vegas, Mickey Mouse is coming!

I’m non-English speaker, so I hope my point is clearer now.
