You can do this easily enough in your editor, rather than after effects. Experiment with cutting frames out at random intervals. I don’t think that there is one “correct” way to do it, so you’ll have to experiment a bit. I’ve had success with chopping out between three and five frames at a time, at random intervals. Anything less than three frames, and nobody will catch it.

    Hope this helps.

Off the top of my head I would think that you could probably mask it and then use CC BendIt.

  • I just ended up taking the particles out. I came to the conclusion that it was a little busy. Thanks for the tips!

Not sure about a Mac-based solution. We capture using camtasia on the PC and export it as a quicktime file, then edit on our FCP stations.

The “sticky” at the top of the page is the little green/grey (maybe I am colorblind…) box with the highlighted text that says “Common After Effects Questions…”

Camtasia is a program that will do screen captures. It’s pretty intuitive if you’ve worked with NLE applications; it mimics their UI’s to an extent – drop and drag kind of stuff. You can also do simple animations to highlight or call out portions of the screen that you might want to call attention to.

Yeah, I tried their knowledgebase after posting this. Still no go. There seems to be some consensus that this was fixed with an .net 2.0 hotfix. I’ll have to see if I need updates.

    Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that we taped on DVCPro, and the segment was imported into AE as a quicktime file. Hope that might help a little. I know that the digital format isn’t going to provide the best keying in the world, but I’m just curious about keylight. Thanks!
