  • I save money paying for creative cloud. I mostly color correct for wedding videos, documentaries and YouTube skits. But can I actually use resolve if I have my footage as pro res?

Is it possible to even use after effects at all if I have made a proxy file in Premiere?

Well that’s interesting. I just imported a clip from prelude with metedata comments and it is still there after i make a proxy in premiere. The odd thing is the file isn’t changing. When I make a proxy I still see .MTS extension rather than .mov extension even when the Proxy is connected. Is that supposed to be the case?

If I have GPU acceleration on does it auto render? I just wanted to ask. I see a yellow render bar and some green bars which have no effects. it only shows a yellow bar when I have added an effect. Im guessing it hasn’t rendered and the GPU only lets me play it back without rendering?

I was watching a Lynda tutorial on transcoding. The guy in the tutorial mentioned that some editors import their native footage and create Subclips then transcode their Subclips to ProRes or some other form to save storage space. I also found out when watching the tutorial that I can use what’s called Render and Replace which takes my Timeline I’ve made using my AVCHD footage and Render but replace it with ProRes. I didn’t know you could do this at all and I’m pretty efficient in Premiere. Is it a good idea to Render and Replace as well as possibly look into Transcoding my Subclips?

    Thanks

Woud I then just choose 1/4 playback instead of full?

I found out I can Export a XML file from Premiere and import that XML file into Resolve for color correction and export out of Resolve and import back into Premiere. Is that a good method? Is Pro Res lossless?

oh, forgot to mention the films I make are delivered to public access TV and DVD. so I have one Master File which is 7GB exported that match the sequence settings and then I give the TV station that to compress to whatever they need to for TV and then I make a MPG2 DVD file for DVD’s
