okay,
I guess I didn’t understand it was this complicated. Here are the answers to the questions.
I am a freelance filmmaker. I make documentary film about history. Films last for about 30 to 60 min.
I edit all my media in Premiere at ProRes 422. My last film exported from premiere (which I didn’t use resolve for) was a total of 7GB.
I do all the FX work myself as I am a one man show.
My budget is about 1,000 dollars per project and I do about 3 or so films per year with small editing and FX work on the side.

I understand all of that but what do I export to so it doesn’t lose quality after I have edited the film?

from my understanding there is a different compression of AVCHD based on what camera you have.

I can’t afford Raid anything. I hardly have enough money as it is. I was reading in that article that you shouldn’t read and write to the same drive so that is why you need a drive for exports and another one for renders and media.

found a support article on adobe’s site. Someone suggested this.
C: SSD for OS & programs.
D: HDD for media and projects (because of the size of the media and frequent changes in projects).
E: SSD for static page-file and exports.
F: SSD for media cache and previews, although a HDD may give you better life expectancy but also slower performance.Sounds almost like my setup

Well that’s strange. Adobe’s own support site says to actually have a separate drive for cache and render files. Several Proffesional editors swear that having a different drive for exports and another for cache helps speed up the system.

I’m confused how you think I’m spreading the same project on multiple drives.
Here is how I have it set up with Each hard drive
HDD 1: External USB3 for All media including Photos, Video, Audio Project files
HDD 2: External USB3 for completed exported files. All Master copies of my completed film go to that drive.
SSD: For Cache and render files
HDD 3: USB 3 backup drive
I also have two other cloud storage backups.

Auto Proxy? You mean like how Apple Final Cut X auto makes proxy files? If so does it do it by making proxy files of a pro res file?

so does less Ram mess up the AVCHD files? I sometimes have to edit footage given to me where the frame rates are different for each camera and I can never get all the cameras the same frame rate unless I transcode them all to pro res for example
