I’ve always numbered my chapter markers using numbers. Since a chapter number is automatically placed at the front I always started with 2 and went up from there. So I do have the name box filled out…with numbers. Still not exporting.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve done further investigation which led me to use the Adobe Media Encoder to reexport the clips and now they all play fine. Apparently there are different types of .avi files…didn’t know that. PP likes DV type avi files.

btw…I did try this myself and it seems that if you don’t put in a chapter number in the sequence marker then it’s not brough into Encore as a chapter. So I guess my question now is how do you deal with adding chapters in Encore as the project progresses and then needing to renumber all the chapters after the one you add? Is there an automated process that renumbers them…or do you just dive in and renumber them all manually?

I’ve found how to apply the volume effect to the clip…but how do I see the audio meter? I’d love to be able to visually see the problem and not have to export the video and then search for the problem.

I am planning on putting the file onto 4 DVDS. I’m not sure I understand your thoughts on putting the file on MiniDV as well though. The original is already on MiniDV and I keep that in a safety deposit box in a bank with a backup DVD of each DVD I make. So my plan is that if any of my DVDs get busted I can get the one from the bank and make a copy. If for some reason both DVDs were busted I’d just have to recreate the DVD from the original MiniDV.

While I am doing no editing…I am cleaning up some blank spots, spots where my wife filmed the ground for 10 minutes, etc. I also like the ability to add a menu w/ a pic from the time the video was filmed. So I do want some control over it more than simply dubbing would allow.
