[What I meant is not being able to quickly dip channel 1, keeping channel 2 up and then switch between the two. I know about open in timeline but its a pain, especially in an interview situation where the interveiwer interjects.]

Have you thought about blading the clip and turning the appropriate audio channels on and off in the inspector? This may only work when they don’t talk over each other. I am sure you have your interviewers well trained in this regard! LOL!

    Best wishes,

[However, the one thing i found cutting news on FCP X is that nasty issue of not being able to dip a track quickly.]

If you mean lowering the volume of an audio track I can suggest two ways that you may already know.

    1) Option click on audio track to create first key frame. Move your cursor 20 frames to the right and option click again to create a second key frame. Now drag down your audio volume to taste.

2)To create a dip down and back up quickly, use the “r” key to highlight an audio range. As soon as you drag down the audio volume it automatically created four key frames needed for the dip and back up.

    Best wishes,
    Bruce

When you had selected your clip and make it a favorite with the “F” key a green line appears over your clip. If you click that green line, your IN and OUT points associated with that favorite shows up. NICE!

  • Hello Shane,

Great advice! I shot with a Sony EX1-R using SxS cards. I will give them the raw BPAV files. Thanks!

March 31, 2011 at 11:53 pm in reply to: Faster Rendering for G5 with HD projects

    Hey Keith,

I did add a LaCie eSata card, but projects on my external hard drives kept crashing, so I went back to Firewire 800. As for rendering from compressor, my editing style requires me to render as I go to see the final results before I move to the next set of edits in a project. Do you think a different eSata card may help? Any suggestions on a better GPU card for the G5?

    Hi Rafael,

[At first sight, there are no many things to speed up your editing, but a better GPU.
One with 512MBs. That would really benefit you.]

Any recommendations for a better GPU for my G5?

I was asking Ron Pestes specifically. My bad. He mentioned 1080i, but did not specify 1080i60 or 1080i30. Forgive me as I am new to all this.

  • Additionally, every time I launch Motion 3 with my usual account, I am asked for the serial number.
Then Motion 3 tool bars open at the top, but no GUI. Only after I launch a previous project, do I see any panels at all. Of course, no library or file browser panes. This is very frustrating. Any suggests out there?
