  • Hello Larry,

    Yes you can.
I did on my MacBookPro. No worries.
After you get used to FCPX, you may not want to go back to 7.

  • Hello Adam,

As I recall, I deleted any old drivers, updated the latest Sonnet driver, powered down my computer, and powered it back up. THEN plugged in the Sonnnet card reader. If that doesn’t work, try plugging in the card reader before powering it back up.

    Good luck!

Don’t know if this will fix your problem, but when I keyframe two points, sometimes this action adds extra elements I don’t want. Seems like FCPX wants to extrapolate between my two keyframes.

To fix this, I first move my cursor between my two keyframes and then I go to Transform (within the Inspector) and hit the Position “add key frame” button many times until the X and Y Position parameters do not change. This seems to help me when I want to animate my video without FCP adding any extra extrapolated movements to my two key frames.

    Good luck!

So how do I see the GPU efficiency? Can I view it like I did with the CPU? Do I need a better card?

    Hey Bret,

Your answer was spot on. Selecting “A” when done transforming is the same as clicking on the “Done” button.

    Thanks!

I really like your “How long is a road” answer. In a more serious vein, I ask my potential clients “how much does a house cost?” Bring me a blueprint and I can give you a price OR tell me how much house the bank says you can buy and I will tell how much video production you can purchase. Either way, you will get what you paid for.

When pressed for a per hour price, I usually say between $1000 and $5000 a finished minute. That usually begins the dialogue necessary to created a reasonable and fair budget for a video.

As a final thought, I don’t come down on my prices just to get a job. Clients who want to low ball you and your rates in return for “future” business are not the clients you ever want.
