[David Roth Weiss] “Come on, you’ve got to give information if you want information.”
Sorry… All text generating plugins, no matter what resolution. 🙂
It was effecting other programs as well. On a lark, I ran “Fix Permissions” and poof.. All back to normal. 🙂
Thanks anyways.

[Chris Poisson] “you can convert the footage with Compressor or Cinema Tools prior to editing. 24p”
Hey… Can I just finish my edit and output the cut to a file and then process in Compressor to get me to 29.97 SD land?
Thanks a ton!!!

[Chris Poisson] “Your director is a bonehead, 30p would have looked about the same and you would be in 29.97 land. I have that same camera and I shoot 30p all the time.”
Thanks Chris,
I tried to tell the DP that. But, he didn’t listen. I always shoot in 30p just for that reason. I would like to just turn in a file but it has to be by the rules which follow.
1 Standard Definition/SD (that is, 720×480 pixels)
2 NTSC (that is, 30fps not 24p)So I need to get to SD land with this.. 🙂

Is it possible to exchange settings for the XLA1? Since it’s lens is fixed. There’s no worry of different glass effecting the image. I haven’t had the time to dissect the custom settings menu much and not very experienced with that kind of thing.

[Evil Ash Editor] ”
You will typically see that flutter in the auto focus in low light situations”I recently had this problem with my A1 and it was a well lit scene. I quickly flipped it to manual focus. I’ve see the focus pulsing in AF mode a lot. I only use AF when I’m really runnin and gunin hand held. I don’t count on it when zooming in tight. Always go to MF then.

August 1, 2007 at 8:59 pm in reply to: HDV to Standard def – please help get past my ignorance[Chris Poisson] “Put the native HDV files in an SD 8 or 10 bit or ProRes timeline, it will automatically letterbox it. Scale it up to fill the screen top and bottom, you can pan and scan or zoom in if you want, add whatever filters you like, render and go to tape.”
I use this technique all the time and it works great. Just watch out for reversed fields. Check your playback on a NTSC monitor. I had to apply the shift fields filter to fix it. HDV is upper dominant and DV is lower field dominant.

Hi Riccardo,
I don’t have an answer to your question. But a question for you. Sorry.. 🙂
What do you use to convert AC3 files? Are you working with 5.1 surround AC3’s? I need to convert a AC3 surround file to 6 discreet files.
Thanks,
Bruce

Just my two cents….”Great advice Todd!! I’m saving this for all the producers that are stuck on using a camera feature just because they think it’s cool to talk about the fact that it’s shot in 24p.
