When you have the capture window open, do you have machine control of the deck in HDV mode?

What I did was to create a sequence that was NTSC/DV. Select all and copy the clips in the HDV edited sequence. Paste the clips into the NTSC/DV sequence. They should come in scaled automatically for 16:9 letterbox. If you want a full frame. Scale the clips up to 67% and adjust the clips position to make sure your framing is correct. Pan and scan. 🙂

I would suggest rendering 1 clip and check playback on a NTSC monitor for any field problems. I had a field problem and by applying the shift fields effect fixed it all up. I think the fact that HDV is upper field dominant and DV is lower filed dominant causes this problem. Then export to QuickTime movie with the same settings as the sequence. Use that file to make the DVD.

I’m sure there are other ways to get there. It’s just the method I use.

    Good luck!

[David Roth Weiss] “yes, your $40 Curcuit City dream is a bit of a pipe dream”

[walter biscardi] “Better to get a true video card”

Thanks guys!! I think I’ll wait a little bit for the Intensity Pro to be ready.

June 30, 2007 at 2:21 pm in reply to: KONA LHe HDV Hardware Acceleration?

[David Roth Weiss] “the Kona cards do scale both HDV and DVCProHD via hardware onboard the card, taking that burden off the computer processors, however that is the extent of the hardware acceleration.”

hmmm.. Scaling only. How can AJA and an un-named sales person claim HDV acceleration? Kind of a stretch. Pun intended. 🙂 What I want is an inexpensive way to monitor my edit on the big screen.

    Thanks guys.

[gary adcock] “mortimer heathcliff] “upgrade the capture card at my facility to the BlackMagic Intensity (so i can capture DVCPro HD in the future) or Kona’s version – i’ll research that choice more next…);”

warning on this card- it only does analog and HDMI, not really a good choice if you are going to be handling alot of content from HDSDI sources.”

All so, The Intensity card only works with Intel version presently. I was about to buy one for my dual core G5 and was informed it’s a no go right now.

    Thanks for the info.

I knew about the cable replacement. I had replaced it some time ago. I finally tried the Fonzie aproach and gave it a good little wack and it came back up. lol. I think I remember doing that 2 years ago with the same results. It was fixed. 🙂 Gota love Digi hardware. Real quality stuff.

    Thanks Deditster,

I could not find info that said that Divix Doctor would do the job. The Focusinfo product looks like it can do it. It’s a Windows program though. Is there any Mac software that can do the conversion?

    Just a guess…

Could it be that the AJA is sending a line level signal to your mixer and the input channel is set for microphone input?
