I should add that both have the symphony option.

did you do moves or separate elements to fake movement within the still? Head moving forward or arm raising? If so, they may want those comps for color correction to use the mattes (alpha channel) to make it easier.

I too am finding my C:\ drive keeps getting full, especially when I use a lot of RED files via AMA. Is there a way to alter the path of the AMA Management folder or the Attic without re-installing the Avid software? (MC Symphony 8.3) It would be great to have those go to my media drives instead of my c:\

THANK YOU! That’s the answer I’d been unable to find on the Avid website. I couldn’t get a straight answer from Boris other than there was no upgrade path when you hadn’t purchased the product in the first place, it was an Avid “courtesy”… which nice at the time, leaves me without plugins that I had on Symphony 7 when upgrading to 8. Thanks again for the help

Complaint… is I had BCC on V7 symphony, upgraded to V8 Symphony and told by the engineers that BCC was no longer included. I will quiz them again. Thanks

the problem is that with MC7 you got the BCC package included, but on MC8, it’s not there and you’re forced to buy it to restore previous commercial projects. Not like it’s one or two items missing, it’s most of them. Avid, why bother putting any BCC in there?

With the “upgrade” from V7.03 symphony to V8.03, I have lost the stock boris AVX plugins. Used them somewhat, especially the rotating on a graphic image. Yes, 3d works, but not the same when pushing in on a larger image. Pan & Scan really lacks this… any other options other than buying Boris?

I found clicking on the R-L area, then hitting 0, and enter centers it to mid, but still more keystrokes than the old way… any others?

but is there a click and keystroke to mid pan a mono audio track to centre? I know we could do it in MC 5.5, Cntl or Alt click and it put is at centre. Is the only way to highlight the clip and select clip and center?
    thanks

Hmmmm, seems like a step backwards. That’s always been one of the great things about avid, customability. (if that’s a word) 😉
    thanks Michael
