To follow up, our local station in Denver does broadcast in HD (KUSA 9News). But they still take material on BetaSP and DVCam. Funny thing is between their sales person who gave me to their producer who gave me someone in their newsroom, no one could tell me specifically what ‘formats’ they accept.
So, I’ll be sending it in 4×3 on BetaSP. I suppose if stations ask for it, we’ll provide content in a 16×9 format of their choosing.
Thanks for the suggestions

Are you running the Firefox Browser? I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be the version of Firefox I was running. Can’t remember what that version was though. Since then, by upgrading Firefox 2.0.0.5 the issue has gone away.
One word of caution though; I can’t prove it, but there have been a few times where I’ve noticed a sluggish response from my computer while using Firefox. It may be a total coincidence, but it’s possible something is going on.
PS: The new version of Safari 3.0.2 is way faster than Firefox!

Thanks Cade. I can’t believe I couldn’t find this info somewhere. I’m sure it’s out there, but why look when you have Creative Cow?

Here’s a silly suggestion, but I actually encountered this myself.
Check the hard drive you are writing to; make sure it has enough space for your final movie.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, AE isn’t the ideal, but it is the client’s budget point.
By the way, I did some more research and discovered that you can import CAD (.dwg) files DIRECTLY INTO ILLUSTRATOR!!!
I can’t believe I just didn’t try it for the heck of it sooner.
Ahh, learning humility is a virtue.
Thanks

What version of FCP do you have? I just purchased an XL H1, and the newest release of FCP CROSSGRADE includes the ability to dig all the Canon codecs via firewire. It’s a complete upgrade, and if you don’t do it soon, you’ll “possibly” pay more. Go here https://www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade/ for more information.
Other than that, my understanding is the Canon HV10 is your only option to be able to play back “all” the Canon codecs. I don’t have any personal testing with other decks yet.
Best of luck

Duh. I overlooked the de-interlace filter and jumped to the Sharp filter by mistake. Your suggestion definately did the trick.
Follow Up: Do you have any suggestions for creating really great looking video for the web? For instance, videos you download from Apple look so great. Obviously your source footage is important. The challenge I have not overcome is the compression method.
Thanks for your suggestions.
