Looks to me like the biggest problem is that there is not enough depth to the shot to get a good solve. Your tracking marks – such as they are – are moving throughout the screen and your only depth disappears part- way through the shot. For 3D trackers you need 3D info. It appears that all you have is a guy walking in front of a green screen. Why would you need depth info when you can create your own in the comp with a camera?

But if that was the problem why would it fly through the track when I switch away from AE to another app?? That is the part that has me really stumped. For this particular comp I am using a sequence of DPX frames, so long GOP isn’t an issue

EDLs don’t contain nearly the data that an XML does. I would love to be able to fix the XML script, but I don’t have an XML file that works to compare it to try to fix the problem, and I’m not that up on the scripting language. I’m also not getting very helpful error messages. I just know that 3 other apps won’t read them.

As long as you are replacing individual shots – just load them as takes in vegas. Then you can switch between versions to compare

I’m not sure what you mean – Vegas can do this just fine – I do it all the time. Check your keyframes, you may have created an extra inadvertently.

Sony tells me that only video captured thru Vegas using the AJA card can be recognized by Vegas. At least the QT files can’t be read.

I tried re-installing the AJA software when I couldn’t see the video. Sony just says “stream attributes could not be determined”. I would swear that a month or two ago I used some of these files.

No – both of these machines have the same problem on the 32 bit OS – We both have dual boot – XP32 & XP64
