I’ve see something similar before where the video was saved as 720×480 square pixels in AFX vice .9 that will give approx 10% more on the horiz edge.

DVD recorders don’t have HDMI in, they do have composite and s-video in, s-video usually gives higher bandwidth, refer to your intensity manual for the proper connections and menu settings for A/V out via the breakout cable.

Your description is of 16:9 that was shot with a anamorphic lens or the footage is missing the 16:9 flag -
It could be a cable, It could be the port on the cam, they have been known to blow if hot swapped, same with the port on the computer, I would find another cable to test with and if that doesn’t work, try another computer, and or try to connect two camcorders together via firewire and see if they will xfer data between them, process of eliminajtion, when connecting to computers don’t do it when both are on, connect with both off and then bring up.

Maybe you should tell people what device(brand, model) you are trying to capture from, and what kind of cable(firewire, usb, composite, component, etc) you are trying to use

Are you refering to third party plug-ins??

If everything is ok you should be able to see timeline playback in the viewfinder, make sure the playback settings are set properly in the Project dropdown menu under ProjectSettings, General/Playback settings, the “Realtime” and “Export” “External Device” should both reflect a DV Setting, If you were able to capture usually the device control options under capture is usually set right, but you might want to check that you have Sony and VX1000 set.
