I assume your’re talking about the MX02 not the mini, another unit you might want to look at is AJA’s I/O Express, its more expensive than the mini but has RS422 support and SDI -

What kind of avi files? avi is a generic term and can apply to all types of interleaved files.
If the files play on Ppro2 is it on the same machine??Depending on the type of file you may need a codec installed, do you have quicktime installed? sometimes a codec that quicktime installs can cure a problem like this

Like Alex mentioned not directly, particularly if there are multiple voices, they tend to overlap and mix, you might be able to do some adj if they are maybe male and female by using spectrum analysis methods and or bandpass filtering, but best way is to capture individual voices to seperate channels in a multitrack recording enviroment then adj before mixdown

I don’t have any problems with WS flags in DV with a cam that has a WS mode unless I’ve used a cam with a amamorphic add-on lens then I have to adjust in the project for proper aspect

I decided to use the Matrox’s MX02 mini box with my laptop, I wanted the verisatility of monitor options, I can use the MX’s HDMI or component, composite out for a external video monitor and use the extra video card outputs for second monitors, plus the HDMI in and assorted analog inputs for live cam capture, I haven’t fully explored the capabilities yet as I am finishing up some HDV projects, but I like the 3 monitor setup, using a extra computer monitor I can use the dynamic link and have both apps displayed, like Ppro on one and AFX or Encore on the other plus use the WSTV for playback.

I use a laptop for 3 to 4 cam editing in the field with CS4 production studio, its a 3gig core 2 duo, with 8 gigs of ram, 17″ screen, 2 internal SATA drives, Vista64, the thing that makes things workable is that it has a eSATA port and express card slot, I have a external esata raid 0 attached to the eSATA port and a Matrox MX 02 mini I/O in the express 54 slot which has HDMI, Component, or composite I/O, so you can capture and monitor various feeds, plus has software to do a reasonable monitor calibration, I also use Cineform’s NeoScene as a intermediate codec, you can use the MX 02 mini for a Windows desktop also or a BlackMagic Intensity Pro if you don’t want the expense of the more expensive cards.

What kind of tapes are you capturing from and what preset are you using??

I think procoder3 is a bit better than adobe, plus it will encode to AC3 which Ppro 1.5 wouldn’t
