Also due to atmospheric conditions, too long of exposure can lead to bluring, sometimes it pays to do a bunch of shorter exposures and stack them, also trying to use a long lens to fill the frame can have problems due to the minimum f-stop of the lens and the lens’s ability to magnify atmosperics, sometimes using a shorter faster lens, even though you don’t fill the frame can result it better images, you have alot of megapixels to play with even on a quarter screen.

    [sergio bustamante] “any tips ?”
You should tell us what kind of file you are trying to import into what version of premiere, file info should include where you got it from or what type of cam its from, its extension, etc.

They use Red Ones at 4,096×2,304 and downconvert to 1080
Which one did you notice it in? they had two last night, and how far along? I haven’t watched yet as I was doing something else, but I have it recorded.

I like multiple monitors, I use two computer monitors, depending what I’m doing I can make one monitor just the timeline and move the rest of the stuff over to the second monitor or shift panels however it suits me, I also use the second monitor for multitasking like opening the editor in one monitor and AFX or Encore or Photoshop in the second one, I also use a third monitor which is a widescreen 1080p tv to monitor the video output of which ever program on the fly.

[Laura Turner] “I have a 1280 × 720 quicktime file which I need to get onto mini DV tape”

You are trying to shove a HD format mov into a SD DV camcorder, it will accept a 720×480 NTSC color signal if a US camcorder, in either a wide screen par of 1.2 or standard screen par of .89, you need to downconvert the HD format to a SD format in something like compressor before trying to load it onto tape.

The Toshiba Qosmio that was mentioned uses a Nvidia GTX460M which has 192 cores and uses DDR5 1gig memory, and AFAIK there aren’t any Mobile cards mentioned approved for use so the hack is necessary, and some kind of laptop cooling like extra fans is recommended

I would go with something that has a i7 processor, I’ve been looking at some of the Toshiba Qosmio line
