    A tad pricey

In addition to what Todd was saying about ram memory, I’d loose the fx3800 for a fx4000, 2gigs of video memory vice 1gig, DDR5 vice DDR3, the DDR5 can give up to a 50% performance boost.

[Dima Smirnov] “using multiple workstations connected all together called?”
Its called a “Render Farm”, like Todd mentioned Ppro dosen’t network, looking at the specs of the computer you listed you are underpowered to handle highly compressed like AVC H264

If it is crashing at the same point all the time you may have a corrupted area in the video.

You are not mentioning how long your video is? and what you are saving your video as, 720p or 1080p as mpeg2 or H264 for DVD or blu-ray?? Your original file is a .mov(h264) a very highly compressed format and depending what you are transcoding to could take a long time, 5x or 10x or more, and like Todd mentioned using a single drive can cause bottlenecks.

November 3, 2010 at 12:29 am in reply to: What Canon Vixia do you recommend other then the HFS100?

The one comparable is the HF-S200, some small differences, has a Lanc port now so it can accept a lanc controler for zoom, start/stop, etc.

[Nick Leigh] “Will I see a big difference between the AMD Phenom II 3.2 GHz X6 and X4?”
    Particularly with rendering.

[Nick Leigh] ” will I not see a difference if I go without the 10K RPM drive?”
The 10k drive will load the system and apps fast, once loaded into memory it doesn’t matter, also will speed up virtual memory but not by much, if there is enough ram it doesn’t matter too much.

[Nick Leigh] “but will the GTX 460 work? Or will I see a big difference using the 470 or 285?”
If you use the hack: https://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/PremiereCS5.htm4
just be sure you have good cooling, there are a few dual fan cards, I use the hack with a GTX260 and have compared it with a quadro 3800 and also a 465, and the only one that made a difference was the 465 and that was because of the DDR5 which the 460 has, read the article, also till they are using all the cores spending money on high end card for a editor that basically uses 100cores and the rest for the card mostly for display is iffy

[Ana Maria Suarez] “These cameras look like a small family video-camera”
Thats because thats what they are, consumer camcorders, what kind of a budget are you looking at? that will determine whether Consumer, Prosumer, or Pro.

[Dustin Dowling] “then use my 9pin to 4pin 6ft wire that i know works”
Why don’t you try a same gender adapter(barrel) and use the 6′ cable as the adapter to feed the 130 and see if that works, the 9to4 pin adapter may be futzed.
