What OS are you using?? are you capturing DV or HDV? Have you looked in the device manager to see if the computer is seeing the deck? If set for DV it will be in a Imaging Device section, If HDV it will be in the Sound, Video controller section.

Did you look in the Device Manager to see if the DVD burner is listed? and if its enabled?

Goto the Window drop down menu, select workspace at the top of the menu, when you get the workspace menu, click on “Reset Current Workspace” or “New Workspace”

First Ppro uses whatever card as a display card primarily, if the card can keep up with the refresh rate and monitor res I don’t see what a $1600 would have over a $100-200 with the MPE disabled, there is no difference with the displays(I use dual) whether the card was a GT9600, GTX260, FX3800, FX4800, the overlays used in the Source and Program monitor is low res and basically the same, there maybe a bit of difference if the preview is blown to full size on a second monitor but I couldn’t tell, with using the MPE hack, the GTX260 performed about the same as the FXs I was able to use, I did get more RT layer using a Fermi 460 but after reading the article I would attribute it to using DDR5 memory vice DDR3, The GT9600 performed ok as a display card only, it didn’t have enough memory or cuda cores to work with MPE.

If you think its a encoding you ought to describe the computer you are trying to encode with and the settings.

A raid 5 needs a minimum of three disks for an array, plus its a waste to use it for your(c: Drive) operating system and apps as both when loaded don’t need the speed of an array to function and do housekeeping tasks, the array is better suited for video data storage, the smart thing todo would to purchase a sata drive for C: and use the array for data, a more efficient is to have a OS/Apps drive(C:), a second single drive for things like audio clips, preview files, cache files, etc and the array for video storage particularly if doing alot of layers when editing as the second drive removes the extra load from the video source drive.

The Fermi 470 is a good call if you are just using Ppro/Encore CS5 but Rex mentioned CS5 “Suite” in his OP, so I was keeping the video card in the same class because unless he was just doing low end graphics and compositing with AFX, PS, and Illustrator the quadro cards would be a better call, like I use a GTX 260 in my editing workstation, and quadros in graphics workstations, I’m using the GTX 260 because when I put the current work station together there were very few DDR5 cards and it was for Ppro CS4
