I wouldn’t try to close the loop you have started, I would have used the Knife tool in Loop mode to start with – assuming your example is what you are dealing with – if you have something a lot more complex it would depend, Knife in single cut or loop mode combo probably to get the parts you need

so you are thinking to put a loop close to the edges on the top half to get tighter corners there but have the corners rounder on the bottom?
If you terminate a loop like that it’s probably not going to translate well in a SubD (Hypernurb), If that’s what you are after I would use SubD Weights (Hypernurb weights) to sharpen the hypernurb exactly where you want or run complete loops around the edges and slide the parts you want closer or further from the corners though that would be harder depending your version of C4D – you said Hypernurbs and it hasn’t been that in a while and the older slide tool only moves single edges segments not entire selected edge groups like the current one (though there was a plugin to do that previously – KyamaSlide)

why do you need to fix it? What you are intending to do as next steps might indicate different fixes (assuming one is necessary)

    – make the sphere editable
    – select all the sphere’s polys
    – select Disconnect BUT do it by the gear that’s beside the word ‘disconnect’ -that gets to the settings for that command
    – for Disconnect there is only one setting, ‘Preserve Groups’ uncheck that
    – now do a Normal Scale
    – now Extrude – right-click or “D” key (with or without Create Caps checked, depending on what you need.

there is/was a free renaming plugin called Batch Rename Objects by Adam Swaab, I don’t know if it still works (or if it will do what you need) but it was working in R15

using a dynamics tag set to Soft Body is why the cloned spheres all can move as a unit as the later spheres are added. Straight rigid body can have a better results for movement but the end result all lays flat rather than having vertical folds as well.

the simplest way is to Cache the dynamics in the Cache tab of the rigid body tag – Bake Object (or Bake All) which will record all the motion of the objects. Then run the timeline slider up to the point you want to keep (it will jump back to frame 0) then make the cloner editable.
No more cloner if you do that it becomes a null with a bunch of objects as children – if you want to keep cloners you could try turning Dynamic to Off once you Set Initial State, the objects would then be regarded as colliders, that should lighten the load (but I don’t know how much)

All good really, for working with TP you don’t need mograph only the falloff node which, when you try and find it in xpresso, is in the mograph section when you right click to add a new node.
