Naming Tool – Wildcards for replace?

April 6, 2017 at 7:58 pmHi,
I’ve imported a rather large Sketchup project and need to do some serious cleanup.
With object names like the following it’s a big mess.
Mesh7764_eat52_ectioncenter1_House_2__rev_2_1_Model
Mesh7777_eat56_ectioncenter1_House_2__rev_2_1_Model
Mesh7777_eat57_ectioncenter1_House_2__rev_2_1_Model
Mesh7777_eat58_ectioncenter1_House_2__rev_2_1_Model
…However, I found the really cool Naming Tool in C4D, but alas, I can’t figure out how to completely REPLACE the name.
I’ve tried * and ? in the Replace field, but it’s not working.
What a handy tool, but if you can’t completely replace a bunch of object names, it’s missing some features.
Any ideas on how I can make this work?
Thanks,
Jim

April 8, 2017 at 12:21 amthere is/was a free renaming plugin called Batch Rename Objects by Adam Swaab, I don’t know if it still works (or if it will do what you need) but it was working in R15

Thanks!
