make a second material with bump only (the other channels off) add it to your object making sure it’s texture tag is to the right of the texture tag of your other (bhodinut) material (it will be if you add it second, if not, move it later) and check off ‘Mix Textures’ in the Texture Tag of the bump material.

  • Boot Camp does have hardware accelleration since it’s Apple’s they provide drivers for the hardware. You have to make a driver CD (there’s a tool provided for that) which you install during the initial Windows install.

maybe add some particle to particle repulsion as you start the wind

  • Boot Camp is out (been out for a long time – free download) it will be included with Leopard when it’s out. Don’t know about Parallels haven’t used it yet but it sounds like C4D would run but not do well in display (no Apple native drivers like Boot Camp) unless you let Parallels use your Boot Camp install then it does get the drivers from Boot Camp (if I understand the stuff I’ve read correctly).

Learn IK… try the Mocca tutorials (particularly if the dino tail is still on the distribution) other than that you might want to try using a spline to move the tail with MoGraph’s Spline Wrap (I think it’s called) or Renato’s Spline Deformer

It’s not hard. But if your only purpose is to do 3D text you would be getting way more power than you need (unless you have bottomless pockets or are going to be doing more)

[Lavender] “What is the latest version for Mac? Is it version 10 ?”

Yes, Maxon is great that way, they lways bring them out together. 10 is really new and they have a few small things to work out but that will come.

[Lavender] “is it Intel compatible ( universal binary)?”

Absolutely, C4D was the first major piece of software for intel

[Lavender] “Is there academic pricing? (university)”

    I believe so.

I will let wiser heads answer the last two. But I would think you would want Mocca3 at least, though it’s been said before if you are going to be doing stuff regularly if you can afford to get the Studio Bundle it will save you in the long run.

[micpool] “The inability to set a parameter value for spit beam does seem to be an ommission in the program. I can’t really see how the function is that useful without some degree of control.”

Well, that’s why we have TP I guess. More work but particle by particle control if you want it.

the percentage you are looking at is for elasticity not “percentage of split”. In the manual it says “‘some’ particles will be deflected”. I found if you put in 5 deflectors (not right on top of each other – a bit of space in-between) it looks 50%-ish. be aware that the speed of the particles is important too (not too fast).
Otherwise Thinking Particles and some Xpresso…

Use the Texture Tool to (and Texture Axis Tool) in combination with the Move/Scale/Rotate Tools to change texture alignments/rotations. You still won’t get anything to happen with UVW projection because that uses the structure of the object to align to but most of the others can be moved around (all except Frontal or Camera Mapping)
