    Hello,

I’ve modelled a character that doesn’t move except for it’s tail, which does this complicated little flick motion.

i’ve tried every way of animating it. Deformers don’t give me enough flexibility, with PLA it looks to rigid – I can’t get the frames to ease in and out, and I cannot get IK to work for love nor money (in at the deep end with this one – I’ve never used IK before).

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers,

Learn IK… try the Mocca tutorials (particularly if the dino tail is still on the distribution) other than that you might want to try using a spline to move the tail with MoGraph’s Spline Wrap (I think it’s called) or Renato’s Spline Deformer

    Thank’s Brian.

I’m having a nightmare with one. The spline deformer twists the tail in all sorts of odd ways, and the IK stuff looks too angular.

I’ll check out Renato’s Spline deformner though.

    Thanks for the help!
