was playing with it, haven’t had time in the last bit but it was looking like it’s a function of anisptrophy. Even a straight picture bump map has more movement with object (or light movement) than you would expect. With a picture based bump/specular map it’s much quieter ‘side to side’ though. So I would go with that or tighten the scale a lot smaller so the appearant light movement across the surface is less disturbing.

Probably appears to move back a bit then forward then moves on after the second keyframe? Take a look at the F-Curve it should be flat between the two keyframes. If not, select the first of the two keyframes and check Clamp R in the Attribute Manager.

What is the projection of the texture? It looks like the texture is not rotating with the object. Can you post the scene?

Well, there is the Cel Renderer in Render Settings/Effects other than that there are some toon materials that have been made out there (don’t have addresses here). Other than that it depends on the look you are going for. Gradients with no interpolation (or very short interpolaton), outside edges with fresnel etc.

Alpha only works (in the compositing sense) if there is nothing behind it. You are wanting a “put a hole through everything here” kind of thing. Don’t know if it exists. But…

-Render the ground/card as a seperate passes or,
-instead of alpha use a matte color in the same spot, composite using chroma or,
-place alpha on the ground behind the alpha on the card or,
-bring the footage into C4D and composite there…

    probably more ways…

Should work straight or not, unless you have something behind the card that’s blocking the alpha.
