it’s easier at times to not join things, particularly if the shapes are simple. I extruded everything from one cylinder with no caps and used a boole to cut the hole to extrude upward. The boole could be used as you did to create it all at once but even if it’s all set up to make a clean mesh you still get different results (sometimes odd) if the caps are turned on or not. As I said, easier to extrude as long as the shapes are fairly simple.

To make the mesh clean I reduced to two height segments for the horizontal cylinder (has to be two to make the boole cut clean, at least in this case) and only one for the vertical. The two cylinders need to have the same number of rotation segments so the edges all line up. Finally they are lined up so the bottom of the vertical cylinder is exactly at the center of the horizontal one.

I uploaded a new version with the partial build as a boole and the initial poly before extrude.

If you don’t already, use the extrude shortcuts, particularly Shift while extruding to change the extrude angle on the fly.

add a Display tag to the object and check off Use Visibility then animate the percentage value

Don’t think so. There was an old plugin by Paul Everitt that did that but there’s no link to it anymore (at least not here https://www.c4dplugs.com/ – search for Surface Emitter). Maybe someone else knows of something but TP presets from the Object Library are fairly quick.

Build it differently. Subdivision surfaces (HyperNurbs in C4D) can give you the fillet it’s just a matter of making a cage that does what you want in a minimum of points. In this case not that hard since it’s really just a couple cylinders. This was fairly quick so it’s not exact but hopefully you get the idea.

‘page turn c4d’ in Google brings up a number of hits as will a search for page turn here. It depends on what kind of page turn you are after. Cloth is one way, using a bend deformer another. A simple example of a deformer page curl can be found here https://homepage.mac.com/bdjones/.public/pageCurl.zip

June 18, 2007 at 2:19 pm in reply to: How to Dice Rolling animate

I see. Well his explanation (translated from Japanese to english) here https://translate.google.com/translate?u=https://motion-design.jp/dice.htm
says he was using MEL script to control the direction and speed of the die. Xpresso (maybe it would have to be COFFEE) is the thing alright. Linear travel would be linked to rotation (like a wheel rolling along (that’s an easy script) but for the dice to roll it goes up and down as well as it rolls from flat side to flat side over a corner in-between. So a repeating up and down motion would have to be added to the simple “this much travel means this much rotation” script. I would build it like that start with the rotation then add the vertical component later. Or maybe a better way would be to put the dice in a null and add the vertical to that so it would be easier to roll up and not just along (if you wanted to do the same sort of thing he does).

Look at “Using the Mocca ClothHilde to simulate basic dynamics.” on this page https://www.hypa.tv/tims/download.html

or use Dynamics. If you don’t have Dynamics or Mocca it’s tougher but someone may know some other way.
