a better way, two nulls and rotate the coin falling around it’s edge- recenter it as it falls with the extra null. Keeps the coin on the ground with out F-Curve tweeking

It’s pretty easy, it’s just one rotation (the coin falling over) with the coin spinning. You just have to put the coin in a null and spin that to make it easily controllable. Here’s an example I just made.

    https://homepage.mac.com/bdjones/.public/coinspin.zip

The only tricky part is the coin rotates on it’s center which leaves it in the air if it’s not moved down but a linear down motion is wrong – you have to tweak the F-Curves to keep the coin on the ground. Check the F-Curves for the coin.

You could just tweak the values to adjust the number of spins and the speed of fall but this is the general idea.

excepting that if you render to a sequence don’t do it to jpegs. Jpegs are compressed which degrades the quality, and when you then compress to a movie format the quality degrades again. The resulting file is usually bigger than if you made a movie from uncompressed images as well (that’s a long explanation but it’s true).
A good thing to remember is to compress as few times as possible.

[Tak West] “I have a sphere inside a cloner… set to grid array. At some point I want the sphere to melt… so it appears all the spheres are melting at the same time.

I drop a Melt deformer as a child of the sphere”

Works for me but I did it the other way around. Make the Melt a child of the sphere, set the Y-pos of the Melt so it’s at the bottom of the sphere, drop those into the Cloner. It works the other way (add the Melt to the Cloned sphere) too, it’s just a bit trickier aligning the Melt but both ways they all melt when the strength is adjusted.

I’d have to see the geometry, extrude doesn’t usually affect surrounding geometry… unless you got it in a HyperNurb

select the face you want to extrude first, then use the extrude tool. (Which you can use anywhere in the view – it doesn’t have to touch the object)

with no crashing it seems like you have it set for Preview Range or Manual in the Output tab of Render Settings and not All Frames. If it’s not that, I have no clue and maybe it’s time to contact Maxon…
