It’s a visible light inside the planet with Illumination turned off – it doesn’t need to light anything it just needs to be visible.

Hard to see without the splines involved but it helps a lot to have the same number of points in each of the splines in the loft for symmetrical stuff like this. Try and get points in more or less in the same places too. Quick example

usually the only time the Apply button is greyed out is after the tool has been used already. Perhaps you used it with the Radius set to zero? That would look like nothing happened. Either click New Transform and make sure the Radius is larger than zero when you press Apply – or try the interactive mode, with some (or all) of the points of the spline selected, select the Chamfer tool (the way the book describes) then click in the same window part that contains the spline and left-click-drag left to right to get a chamfer that way.
If you aren’t sure if you have points selected or what parts of the interface I’m talking about etc. download the help files from Maxon’s Downloads/Documentation page and install it (once you have the file go to the Help menu in C4D, select Manual Install and choose the Help file you downloaded (don’t unzip it, C4D will do that)) and check out the first few sections under the Cinema4D part – Usage, Views and Viewports etc. etc.

there’s Render Area in the viewport, of course but if you really want the picture viewer you’d have to turn off parts you don’t want with layers, selection objects, something like SoloButton whatever is good for you and maybe use a different camera to zoom in on the bit you want without disturbing the original

looks like a positional problem – at 2167 (or thereabout) the camera is looking at the cube cutter for ‘television/video’ but the text is a long way away from that.

There could probably be better ways to do it but FWIW. This one works but only because the numbers are right, it can’t be moved up or down. This one can be moved up and down and it still works. I didn’t worry about X or Z. Both are mods of Randy’s example so they go up and down not sideways but that is easy to change just swap the values to X or Z.

Thanks, (got broadband anyway so both were good). Here’s a simple test that has a text object with horizontal spacing animated and the boole cutter animated but nothing else (since I don’t know your setup).

It works here (cube subtracted from a Mograph text object as a simple test). Anything more complex than that going on in your scene?
