Hi, I’m still pretty new to C4D and I’m puzzled right now. I was trying to “hide” a portion of some Mograph Text with another shape and a Boole but got … nothing in the end. Booles work fine with simple primitives, is there something about it that won’t let you interact them with more complex objects like Mograph Text?

It works here (cube subtracted from a Mograph text object as a simple test). Anything more complex than that going on in your scene?

Possibly. I have the Mograph text “hiding” behind a shape. I animate its position to slide out from behind the object. I also animate the letterspacing.

I’ve since gotten the animation to “work” by using other methods which really aren’t good methods. I’d really like to get the Boole thing to work.

If you don’t mind waiting for 91 megs to download, I have a small preview here: https://www.brevitymedia.com/preview.mov , that shows exactly what I did and what I’d really much rather do with the Booles.

Would you mind telling me the order you used in the Object Manager and the settings from the Att.Mang.?

Sorry, it’s actually 91 megs. I wasn’t planning on putting it online.

I just made a much smaller version here: http://www.brevitymedia.com/preview_smaller.mov

Thanks, (got broadband anyway so both were good). Here’s a simple test that has a text object with horizontal spacing animated and the boole cutter animated but nothing else (since I don’t know your setup).

Wow, you rock! Thanks so much for helping. You’ve in essence recreated what I was trying to do. And I am so GLAD to know that it is possible to do this. I’ll revisit my project and compare your file with mine and I’ll getting working for sure. Thanks, again!

I recreated what you did and it worked fine … ’till I tried it in my project. Again, the text just completely disappears! I’ve uploaded the project if you care to have a look (it’s like 61 megs as I can’t seem to zip anything right now).
It all happens (or doesn’t happen) around frame 2167. There’s a “screen” there with no type beside it as with the others. But it’s there with its Boole, but it just doesn’t work?@#$! (It’s the “Television/video” object in the OM, the only one there inside a Boole.

looks like a positional problem – at 2167 (or thereabout) the camera is looking at the cube cutter for ‘television/video’ but the text is a long way away from that.

That is so weird. It’s waaay off. I can’t believe I did something so stupid. I have no idea how it got all the way over there. Thanks so much for looking. I’ll get to work on it now.
