  • Right, but that’s not the case.
It doesn’t down convert it automatically, or automagically.

It does in Premiere Pro and After Effects. 4K sequences and comps appear on the HD monitor because it down converts the image.
But so far, in FCP X, I just get no image at all.

    Tom,
I know this thread has been quiet for a long time now, but I’m curious what you’ve ended up doing regarding color correcting between Premiere Pro and either Apple’s Color or using plug-ins, or something else?
I’m especially curious now that Final Cut Pro X is with us.

Since FCP X I’ve wanted to move away from Apple and go full Adobe CS (just as you expressed at the beginning of this discussion). But like you, Color is the one thing keeping me around.

I’ve begun editing a new project with Premiere Pro, and I’m wondering what color solution I want to pursue (and learn, since I’m really only familiar with Apple’s Color).

If you have a second, let me know what you’ve found works well!
    Thanks!

I was really disappointed when I found this out. I bought 3 (yes, 3!) i7 iMacs for my small studio and then realized I couldn’t turn on Jumbo Frames and so am having to sell them all on craigslist! Super drag. And now I’m buying the 3.33 Core 2 Duo’s to replace them, and they come out to be only $150 less than the i7’s (once you upgrade to the graphics card that comes in the i7).
It’s painful to spend so much on a Core 2 Duo when the i7 is out there to buy, but I can’t have it on my network.

What’s really frustrating is that I can’t keep these iMacs around even as simple design stations. My understanding is that as long as they are on the network, if Jumbo Frames are enabled on some machines but not all, then I’ll run into big problems.
    This is true, yes?

I’m now very curious if the new i7 Macbook Pros will support Jumbo Frames?
No where does it state whether they do or don’t, and as mentioned above, this seems to be a shocker even to the Apple employees. When I was on the phone with “enterprise level” tech support at Apple, the guy didn’t believe me about the i7’s not supporting jumbo until he looked it up himself.

yeah, I’m getting there error message too. But I’m not on an Intel machine. I’m on a quad-core G5 (powerpc). It worked fine on Friday, but now, Monday moring, I can’t launch the application. I get the error upon launch, before I see the After Effects window or anything.
I have noticed that I can launch it okay if I login as a different user. But I’ve thrown away my preference files for after effects, so I still can’t figure out why I can’t get it to work with my normal user account.
