Not using all my RAM, but I want it to
I have 9GB of RAM installed on my MacPro. I’ve installed MenuMeters to see how much RAM is being used when I work in AE.
When I do RAM previews, it stops rendering when it reaches HALF of my RAM being used. So my RAM previews are always cut short. This is why I bought so much RAM, and now AE isn’t even using it, or so it seems from what I can tell. For example, right now I’m rendering and it says “79% used of 3.0GB”
Why does it say 3.0GB instead of 9GB, or at least something much closer?
Actually – another problem – now I can’t even finish rendering.
I’m getting an error that says:
“unable to allocate space for a 4200 x 2904 image buffer. You may be experiencing fragmentation. In the Memory & Cache Preferences box, try decreasing the Maximum RAM Cache Size value and selecting the Enable Disc Cache option, increasing Maximum Memory Usage, or both.”Ok, so I went to look at those settings and have this currently:
Maximum Memory Usage: 120% = 3.0GB (by the way, if I change that number to anything from 100% or above, the 3.0GB stays the same)
Maximum RAM Cache Size: 80% = 2.4GBAnybody have any ideas? Are there settings I can adjust or something else I can do?
Thanks,
Brian,.
