You’ve described exactly what I intend.

The layers are different widths so their anchor points are equidistant from the camera on the Z axis but not on the Y axis.

Can the script accommodate the width difference? (layer.width)??

Dan, thanks for your attention. They work but the clockwise ones rotate out of sync.

I have rows of images side-by-side, offset on the z axis.

As the camera moves towards them, they swing open like doors and the camera passes through to the next set of doors.

I’ve moved the layer anchor points to their respective outside edge (where they would be hinged). The right hand ones should move clockwise as the left hand ones move counter clockwise.

Without that brute force, the right hand ones lag approximately 10 frames.

Could it be that the layer transforms are different since the anchor points are in opposite locations?

No I’m sure it has to do with layer space transforms. I’ve read the expression reference but don’t understand it…

After more experimentation it seems that the Camera’s X position influences when the rotation occurs, which leads me to believe that the position value P is not based on the Camera’s Z pos but some absolute world / camera function.

    The short answer is no.

    The longer answer is :

Depends on what other colors are present in the video. Green and blue are the most common colors to key against because human skin tones (no matter what race) are unaffected.

From your description, I’m not sure what you’re trying to achieve but it sounds like a simple matte or mask would do the trick.

Chroma keys really just produce mattes anyway.

If I understand correctly… you could use either a matte or a mask to achieve the desired result. Shape layers are not masks however.

Try using an adjustment layer with the water applied and draw a msk on that layer. You can animate the mask to reveal more of the effect as you need. Make sure you have the adjustment layer selected when you draw the mask, otherwise you’ll create a shape layer.

Put the text on a curved path and animate the path shape.

Thanks to you both. Dave — Autotrace doesn’t do the job.

Frank – thanks for the link.

And finally thank you Jeff Almasol for restoring funtionality that the Adobe Engineers removed.

I have no idea what is going on with the plug in but try resetting After Effects preferences.

On a Mac hold down the Command + Shift + Option keys as After Effects starts up.

On Windows hold down Control+Shift+Alt as it starts up.

  • Particle Playground is very render intensive. Even though the particles it generates have moved off screen they remain in memory and their motion and behavior conintue to be computed.

Once you get above a few thousand particles (check your info panel) it can kill the computer.

It’s a very powerful effect but with severe restrictions.
