    Help…

i dont understand why my AMD AM2 4400+ with 2GB RAM and 320GB SATA drives and EVGA Nvidia 8600GT w 256MB and the latest drivers all around cant handle this, but i have a rendering problem.

i followed a tutorial on how to create fire located here:
    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/drozda_jerzy/ParticlePlayground/video-tutorial.php

it turned out great except for the fact that it creates a lot of particles and slows my after effects to a crawl. i know that it should take sometime, after all it is a complicate piece of work, but, at one point AE freezes all together and i cant get it to respond. i have to kill the process and reopen the file inorder to work on it again.

is it because i am doing something wrong or because my computer isnt fast enough? is there some optimizations that i can perform? i am in no rush, but it would sure be nice to have some thoughts or suggestions.

    thanks all.

Particle Playground is very render intensive. Even though the particles it generates have moved off screen they remain in memory and their motion and behavior conintue to be computed.

Once you get above a few thousand particles (check your info panel) it can kill the computer.

It’s a very powerful effect but with severe restrictions.

    hello

    thanks.

i have used PP before, but even after i have told the particles to die i am still getting a slow computer…

is there any optimizations that i can do to my composition?

Have you tried using the “Secret” settings to purge frames during render? It’ll take longer to render, but at least you don’t run out of RAM during your render.
