Mr. LaRonde, thanks for your concern. All I can say is I’m working on it and there’s not an obvious, or for that matter a documented, solution.
I’m now working on a bit of social engineering, and have offered to supply a working Mac with an HDMI cable to the AV company. The awards show is this coming Saturday and I’ve spent far too much time troubleshooting their system…

Don’t transcode when you render from After Effects. Render uncompressed and transcode in Media Encoder or Compressor.

The only 2 methods I can think of are:
1) to animate the source text, this only allows hold keyframes so the text jumps to the new position/format.
2) Using a mask path to animate the text to a new position.

Thanks Walter. The venue AV techs are difficult to deal with, I’m caught between them and my client who just “wants it to work”.
I’ll keep looking for a solution.

A “regular” SD DVD player puts out a 480i or 480p image, regardless of the aspect ratio of your video.
Running it from the computer, assuming your graphics card supports it, you could run full 1080p. I’ve done projections from a Mac laptop at 1280x720p but have to set the projector as the main monitor and set the resolution out to match.

Don’t use the imported comp, use the layer from the folder it imports.

I agree, its become a PIA.
I now import ai files as Composition > Retain Layer Size, at least this keeps the artwork bounding box where I prefer it.
