Rather than use a preset, drag the ProRes footage onto the New Composition icon at the bottom of the Project Panel.

This will make a composition that conforms to the footage dimensions and frame rate.

The only other thing I can think of is that the footage is 1080i not 1080p and the footage is not interpreted correctly.

You can’t place the SFX as an audio file in space 2D or 3D – however you could place the SFX in its own Comp, then place that in the comp with a camera and use an expression to drive the volume based on proximity.

There are a few quirks in the way the camera calculates it Z position relative to a layer.

While it discusses auto focus, it provides some copy/paste code that you can modify to suit your needs.

Are you using a colour managed workflow?

If not colours will not appear correctly in After Effects.

To use a custom bubble change the Bubble Texture under Rendering, you can use a layer as a custom texture.

In fact you can also use an environment map on the bubbles so they reflect their surroundings.

Use the Flow Map to control where the bubbles flow.
