I think there were some similar post weeks ago. They were about AE renders with alpha. Both are animation codec so it should be the same issue. Something about installing FCP 5 in the correct order. QT, OS, the FCP 5 maybe?

I’m just getting FCP 5 today so no first had experience yet.

You are supposed to name the clip BEFORE you hit capture now. That’s all. You’re just doing things the avid way I bet.

Before version 4 it used to ask you what you wanted to name the clip after capture. But it also asked you where you wanted to save it. It was dumb and kind of a pain. So they kind of fixed it, but created a new issue. Most people doing capture now are trying to expedite a process, and don’t know what to call the clip before they capture it.

I always at least name it something vague, and then I may add to it in the bin. But don’t leave it untitled. That’s a disaster if you have to relink stuff. You can always just rename it at the desktop/finder level and drag it back into a bin.

Edit to tape (5 min) then play that tape with TC burn in turned on to VHS (5 min) = 10 minutes. Better than a 2 hour render.

Maybe it’s because he misspelled stabilize with an A.

Since you mentioned “family” you’ve got to go with security and benefits.

  • The rollover image isn’t the same size as the image it’s replacing. That’d be my guess.

  • So true. AND you need their software. 2 DVDs burning at 8x vs. 1 tape running at 1x. You’re right. That’s completely a no brainer. Burn the DVDs.

Make sure you’re not rendering in RGB in your seq settings too.

  • The math seems right. DV is 5 minutes per gig, so that’s 12 gigs on a 60 min tape.
