Thanks everyone. Did a search for this but turned up negative, I am wondering if when I change the name of a clip in FCP I can have it automatically change the source clip’s name to match. I am using capture now and it names all the source clips Untitled. After I capture a clip I need it to have a more useful name than that, so what am I supposed to do in this situation?

You are supposed to name the clip BEFORE you hit capture now. That’s all. You’re just doing things the avid way I bet.

Before version 4 it used to ask you what you wanted to name the clip after capture. But it also asked you where you wanted to save it. It was dumb and kind of a pain. So they kind of fixed it, but created a new issue. Most people doing capture now are trying to expedite a process, and don’t know what to call the clip before they capture it.

I always at least name it something vague, and then I may add to it in the bin. But don’t leave it untitled. That’s a disaster if you have to relink stuff. You can always just rename it at the desktop/finder level and drag it back into a bin.
