My internal is a 1Tb fusion. Cache files could eat that up pretty quick. Unless something is in the fusion portion it’s just a single Sata drive.
But I’m not sure what would be in my cache. Renders? I don’t optimize or proxy anything.

I leave everything in the library on the raid except backups which by default are in the system drive ( fusion drive). My raid should get better performance than the system drive, plus wouldn’t the cache just be eating up space on the system? Another reAson not to have the library or anything of any size on the system. My time machine also backs up my system drive and I don’t need it backing up cache files.
I do leave files in place quite often, but by the time a project is done and all cleaned up for storing away, I consolidate all the files into the library.
It sounds like the op was still keeping the library in the user movies folder. I would move it out of there. Even if you are keeping it on the system drive I’d keep the library in a folder with other elements for the job like motion projects, psd files, AE projects, etc.

Really? FCP 7 was the same way. Certainly not that big of a deal to me. I use BMD ultrastudio express. Performance is same with or without.

The effect is called strobe. It’s in motion and you can publish it as an FCPX effect.

I get the last frame if it doesn’t work. If a clip isn’t long enough, then it automatically freezes the last frame. So it’s related to that.
Where you click on the clip gets mapped to the first frame of the drop zone, which is often not even visible in the template.
But lately that concept seems to have been thrown out the window, even though Motion and X haven’t been updated. I get the freeze quite a bit, even on my own designs were I know it shouldn’t be an issue.

Are you playing back as better quality or better performance? Sounds like the latter which lessens the quality a little for much better RT playback.

This is great. But I kinda wish it wasn’t limited to “free.” A one stop shop to search ALL motion/FCPX resources would be even better. Free could certainly be another search qualifier like anything else. But then, it would be a huge undertaking!

Isn’t that the same as changing the font size and baseline of a character in the titler in X?

5.0.8 and X running fine on my Yosemite iMac.
