Ditto. Mine rocks. Workhorse. Never heard anything bad about them. I unplug at will. That’s the idea of firewire, no? Maybe it just meant shut down the deck? You should definitely quit FCP and shut down the deck otherwise FCP will get confused or unstable.

Seems you’re missing out on part of the basic paypal function. Somehow you’ve made it open in the same window. That’s ok, but when I go back to the main window to buy another product, it opens the new product, then paypal in the same window, leaving 2 paypal checkout windows open. One with 1 product, 1 with 2. If I checkout on either, it has 2 products.
Why not keep everything in the same window except for paypal shopping cart in it’s own window. When you add more product it updates the shopping cart in the other window.

I’ve had good results simply opening the flash file with QT and exporting it as a quicktime.

Well, you can certainly install OSX on your external drive and then install FCP on it. Then boot off that drive and run FCP. But the version of OSX you install will be tailored to your system, so if your systems aren’t identical it’s probably not a great idea. Plus, you’d need another drive for your media.
You had the best idea earlier when you said you didn’t want to install FCP on their system. Why not? Install it and put all your media on the external drive the way it’s designed to work. Then, when you leave, uninstall FCP and make sure you backup your project onto your external drive and go home, pop your external drive back on your system and then put the project backup on your internal drive and your up and running.

Are you sure they were all composite? I thought maybe the later versions were called C or something like that. So then, Betacam was basically the best analog got as a component format?
My first intership was at a PBS affiliate where they were cutting all the promos from 1″ to 1″. But then they all went onto a betacam stack reel – which was my job to put together – for broadcast. We had 2 sets of 7 stack reels. Mon-Sunday. Every two weeks each betacam would get recorded over, and as far as I can remember we reused the same reels for 3 months. They held up just fine.
I remember watching the telethons begging for support money and thinking… “you know, if everybody didn’t have a freakin $50,000 BVW-50 in the office to preview tapes, maybe they wouldn’t need a telethon.” There must’ve been 25+ BVWs in that place. ??? Needless to say I didn’t donate!

I highly doubt that. Recompile, redo, recode many things yes. But from scratch means they’d throw away the program and start with a blank slate. Huge chunks of routines and code will be reworked.

Sounds like it’s because he’s the odd man out. The rest of the project is being edited on Avid in HDCAM 23.98.
