I think I’d just make a grid matte in photoshop and then align the tracks underneath, scaling and cropping as desired.

The bigger problem with the ads is errors with browsing. At times the sites hosting the ads are down or slow and the rest of the page doesn’t load. Usually pressing stop will display the forum sans ads. But many won’t figure that out and their browser just sits there waiting for the ad to load. With the huge number of ads on this site, it is more common that with other web sites. But alas they pay the bills I suppose!

I think when you add fonts with fontbook you have the option to leave them in place or copy them.

Yeah, I misinterpreted it as multiple movies in the same space meaning the same page. Like they could all be playing on the same page at the same time potentially, but with the ability to load separately. Why anyone would want that I don’t know, but once they’re all loaded it would be convenient if you were comparing things.
The iFrame thing sounds like the way to go. Simple clean and basic.

How long will it take you? How much do you wish to make per hour? Expect that it will take much more time than you expect.
If you had to put a dollar amt on it I’d say web design ranges from $35 to $100/hr. With the interactive programming side being closer to the $100/hr range, and the cutting and pasting text into an interface (maintenance basically) or low skill design being closer to $35/hr.
If it’s a big project and you need the money, you’ll probably take less per hour. If you have lots of clients and this is a hassle, you might want to price it high enough that it’s worth it.
There’s so many factors that you’ll want to run the math and make a bid probably.

Didn’t imovie do HDV first? Maybe iMovie could import and export it as something you could use. Not a great solution but if it’s not critical enought project to pay a few hundred bucks to upgrade FCP 5 it might be what you’re looking for.

Yeah, why the motion jpeg? That’s going to be ridiculously huge. I would think that h.264 would be a great qt format for this sort of thing. High quality at high compression. You see it on the Apple QT movie clips all the time. Their HD format clips look great and they’re usually a couple hundred megs. And since you have control over the playback machine all you have to do is make sure it has the latest QT for playback, no?

Yes, but you can’t pan a stereo pair to the left. It will just reverse the pan. Left to right, right to left, etc.
However, I think what you’re looking for is a track by track delineation instead of a clip by clip.
Goto seq settings and chnage the audio outputs from stereo to dual mono. Leave the tracks at 2 if that’s all you need.
Then, in the audio mixer make sure the tracks panel is open. Then right click on each track and you can choose it’s output. Either track 1 or 2 in this case.
So, for example if youre trying to make a discreet master with VO and music/sfx on separate channels, you’d make sure all music and sfx in your timeline were on a grouping of tracks like tracks 3-8 for example. Then, in the mixer you’d route all those to output 2. Then on tracks 1-2 (VO, interviews, voice, etc.) you’d route those tracks to output 1.
Now, BEFORE all this can work, you’ll have to go into your audio/video settings and change the hardware settings for your particular card/device. If yoiu’re just doing 2 channels like above, this might not be neccessary at all. But if you’re trying to output to 4 channels (like 4 channel 32khz DV for example) you’ll have to change the settings to 4 channels 32khz before it will actually work. Best to make a new easy setup called NTSC DV 4 channel or something like that.

Place the playhead on the clip in the timeline. Press shift+f. If you double click it into the viewer, then you’re looking at a clip that doesn’t exist in the browser. That clip only exists in the timeline.
If you’d like it to appear in the viewer, THEN the broswser, press f to match frame to the clip from the browser in the viewer. Then press shift+f to show it in the bin.

Well it wouldn’t be stereo, but just pan the track to center. “Ctrl+.” (control period)
Stereo is defined more as a separation of sound from different channels. I think what you’re talking about would still be mono. Just coming coming out of multiple speakers. Dual-mono or something.
