For me it changes to white and underlines when I hover over it. What did you want it to do? Perhaps you just need to refresh your browser. Empty the cache, etc.

This is an odd question. Kinda like “I’d like to start a hamburger restaurant. What temperature should I cook the hamburgers at?”
In any case, the truth is you can host them wherever you want, or wherever your client wants, or wherever they already have an account, or wherever you ask them to setup an account, or wherever you get them to set up an account, or wherever has the right technology for the site you’re developing. Personally I feel GoDaddy is more into showing me lots of ugly ads on it’s site. I use lunarpages for most clients that don’t have a host already. I usually have them set up the account and give me the passwords. But you may want to be more in charge of your clients acct. You may want to pay their monthly bill for them and mark it up. Me, I just want to create the site, and lunarpages has everything I need with great support for a good price.

No I don’t. I used to out of habit until a client pointed out the same thing. Just now I turned on the TV and watched a bunch of commercials. I’d say 75% didn’t fade on either end. A few national commercials faded up VERY quickly (3-4 frames) probably just to keep older TVs from going haywire, but none faded out, and the only commercials that faded up and then also out were local lawer ads and that sort of thing.
Most TV promos and station IDs faded up and down.

Yeah, a scanner will give you sharper results and you can run automoted tasks on the resulting files to prep them for FCP, including levels and color correction.

Don’t use gausian blur. There is no reason to blur horizontally. Use a directional blur and only blur vertically. This blends the pixels so that you don’t get interlace flicker.
And you an import images at any dpi you wish. FCP, like After Effects, completely disregards the dpi marking as it has nothing to do with anything but physical media like print or a photo. All FCP cares about is the number of pixels.

A fade up or a fade to black? Never. That’s just a waste of the time you bought. Commercials usually cut in and cut out. You bought the time. Might as well use it.

Yeah, but it’s not all brain surgery. Minimum resolution is pretty simple. We’re utilizing a 720 pixel wide image in FCP. You’ll need a minimum of 720 pixels to work with. Sooooo… scan accordingly. If you’re scanning a regular 4″ photo, then you’ll need to scan at a MINIMUM of 180dpi. (720/4) But you’ll probably want to zoom in or recrop, so go for 300 dpi.
The example you gave of 96dpi would at a mnimum need to be a 7.5inch photo to work. I’m guessing none of your photos are that large.
Once you’re done a little vertical blur will do the trick nicely if you get any ringing. Usually just a half pixel. The flicker filter in FCP does the same thing, but it’s a lot of rendering. Might as well do it in photoshop.
When I have others scan for me, I generally just tell them 300dpi. Perfect for a regular photo to zoom to. Ok for a wallet size if you don’t zoom in much and overkill for 8x10s which I usually don’t work with.

I used to run V.4 on a 400mhz TiBook. No problems. 700+meg ram.
In the early days – v1.2- I played around with a G3 firewire laptop (bronze keyboard? lombard? something like that) and an old external firewire with the camera looping through the drive and didn’t have any problems.
If you run a clean system and don’t load up the drives you can get away with a lot. But I’d consider anything but the macbook pro an offline or rough cut machine.

Dave’s idea will do just that if he had finished the thought. Once you have the bin of used clips, select them all and change their label color to whatever you like. It will label them in the bins and the timeline.
There is no automated process. I suppose it’s possible, but would be complex since clips can be used in many different timelines, across many different proejcts.
