Just run software update in your computer’s system prefs.

I think there’s a limit to the amount of real time titles, based on your ram and settings. I’ve seen your issue before. Try rendering a few of them early in the timeline and you may see the red go away.

You can highlight all the items and nest them, creating a single clip essentially.

    Ayup. Handbrake is lame.

In my tests I’ve only seen FCP use 999mb of RAM. But it runs just fine.

I wonder if somehow he’s running in rosetta? Check the get info on the application and make sure the run under rosetta check box ISN’T checked.

FCP 5 completely changed the way it renders motion graphics. In the sequence settings you’ll see there are now 3 rendering settings. Try different settings. I know version 5.0 had some pretty big bugs in this area and I still run into it once in awhile. Exactly what you describe. Sometimes the best setting is horrible. Sometimes nesting screws the whole concept off. Usually I just keep everything on the middle setting.

Quite aware the keyframing hasn’t changed, ever. I was stating that the program hasn’t had an upgrade in almost 2 years.

In P Pro it may show the data as you drag keyframes, however you still have to actually know what speed (pretty much one) works for a credit roll. They could step it up to 1996 Avid Technology and actually only utilize the speeds that work. Yes, the old avid credit roll worked like a hardware one. It would adjust line spacing on the fly and choose an appropriate speed to fit what you’ve created. All in the bgrnd without ANY data needed or displayed. And there wasn’t any rendering. Of course the thing cost a hundred grand. 😛

There has been a directional blur for this very purpose for many many years. “Flicker Filter.” All it is is a vertical blur. It can also be found within the deinterlace filter.

However, adding your blur in photoshop will reduce renter times substantially, since FCP is rendering the motion blur every frame. It’s much easier to right click and say “open in editor” (photoshop usually) and add a little directional blur and save.

Many will notice that in the universal binary user prefs there is now a check box to “auto update” linked files. So you’ll never get the relinking dialog when updating externally linked files. Very nifty.

Reduce interlace flicker is just the same as FCP’s flicker filter, no? Both just a directional (vertical) blur, that’s all.

It would be nice if FCP had lots of the keyframing of AE. Gotta hope some of that gets into “extreme” or whatever the next version is called. We’re pushing 2 years since an upgrade now.

As for the pixels per second on a credit roll, you really can’t find much easier math.
