    I think you are talking about the anchor point.

    Hit “Y” on you keyboard, select you anchor point, and drag it to where you want it to be.
    Hitting “Y” gives you control over the “pan behind tool”.
    This can also be achieved by selecting the 6th button from the left on you toolbar at the top of your AE window.
    It is the one with the dashed square and 4 arrows pointing outward.

    still not working.
    i exported to alpha and the RBG separately and matched up their positions in FCP and played with the composite modes until it ended up working, but now there is a thin black outline around all of the lettering.

    even though exporting the alpha and the RBG gets me like 90% of the way there, it does not seem like the right way to do it.

    I dont understand.
    I just dropped my clips in the timeline like usual and started doing some basic trimming and cutting to get rid of some excess b-roll.
    It was a brand new sequence and I have never had a problem doing it the same way before.

    it is grayed out there too.
    already check that option.

    ok, i will just give that a shot i guess.
    do you have any suggestions for any other solutions, in case i seem to get my footage just right?
    maybe a piece of third party software?
