I’m not sure where it is on a PC but on a Mac you can move the Plugins from a “Plug-Ins” Folder to a “Plug-Ins (Unused)” Folder in Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio. I have found that there are a couple of Plugins that seem to cause even MC 8.8.5 to crash or have issues.

I’ve moved so many to the Unused Folder I just can’t remember which two were the culprits.
Just try moving them in blocks of 5 or 10 at a time until you narrow down which ones may be causing you grief.

Avid has this weird thing about linking your master account to there Forums and Download Centre. Have you done that, if not you won’t be able to post anything.

There should be a way for Avid to recognize that footage but it’s been so long since I’ve worked with P2 Footage that I’m not sure. Give this a try though.

If Resolve recognizes the footage just use it to transcode it to Avid Op-Atom and you will only have to do a single Transcode. Just make sure you go into the Master Project/Conform Settings and set it up so that your Reel Column is populated properly. Especially if you are going to Round Trip back to Resolve for Colouring once your edit is finished.

  • Have you tried reseting the PRAM and the SMC.
It’s also possible that it just may not run properly on a 3,1.
As an example ProTools 12.7 and up is super flakey on these machines.

I can give it a go one one of mine next week and let you know.

  • Here’s a handy free TC Calc that will do the job.

    https://www.drastic.tv/productsmenu-56/videoiosoftwarelist/76-videosw/utilities/181-tccalc-drastic-time-code-calculator

Set the Frame Rate to 29.97DF then type in the show length.
Since there is no 42;00;00 in DF T/C type in 42;00;02.
Now change it to Frames (75526), multiply by 24 and then divide by 30.
Now change the Frame rate to 23.98 and the show length at 23.976 is 41:57:12.

  • How are you creating your Proxies.
One thing to be very mindful of is the MetaData in your Proxies.
    Especially the Reel Name.

Can you elaborate a bit on what you process is and I will try to help.

If you have a legit CC Contract just call Adobe.
They fixed the same issue in moments when this happened to me.

I would say that this should work without any issues.
Putting all the Bins on the USB Driven Monitor makes the most sense.
Couldn’t hurt to give it a try.

I purchase all of my computer hardware locally because they have a great return policy. If your lucky you have a store like this in your area too. I did however have a hard time getting ahold of a Mac Compatible USB Video Card from them though.

    Hope this helps.

You could Consolidate from Avid but it will not create Avid Wrapped Media because you AMA Linked everything.

It will Consolidate to whatever the original Clip Codecs were. I have run into one problem with this and this is something that Avid really needs to address at some point. It may have a problem Consolidating certain types of Codecs and those you will have to find manually.

One other way to do this is to Export an AAF of your Timeline and then go into Resolve.
Create a new Resolve Project and add all of your media into the media pool. Make sure that you go into the settings and setup the master project “Conform Options” so that the “Reel” Column is populated exactly the same as the “Tape” Column is in Avid. Now import the AAF and check the Timeline against a Reference Video that you Exported from Avid.

Now you can Consolidate all to the Media from here and send that project to the Colourist.
Just always make sure to add enough handles to cover any long transitions like dissolves.
